History museum to host Civil War bus tour

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- The Bartow History Museum will tell the untold stories of the Civil War during a bus tour this weekend.

"War at Every Door: Bartow County, 1864" will be guided by Dr. Keith S. Hebert, a Bartow County native and an assistant professor of history at Auburn University. It will travel to historic sites in Adairsville, Cartersville, Cassville and Kingston, telling stories of the woes Bartow County citizens suffered during the Atlanta Campaign.

The bus tour will be Saturday, Aug. 23. It will depart the museum at 9 a.m. and return at around 3 p.m. Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 8:45 a.m.

Tickets are $45 for Bartow History Museum members and $50 for non-members. Prices include charter bus transportation, admission to historic sites, lunch, snacks and a souvenir.
