Residents express fear about 'creeper' approaching kids

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga -- More than 100 people showed up at a neighborhood watch organizing meeting at Adairsville High School Monday to express their concerns about a man who is lurking in wooded areas and approaching children.

Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap was in attendance after hearing that some residents might try to take matters into their own hands.

"
I'm hoping that they will use restraint," he said. "I'm hoping that they will call us. I'm hoping that they will let us handle this in a legal way."

Sheriff Millsap also confirmed that a fourth sighting happened Monday. A boy and a girl told police they saw a man wearing all black and a mask near power lines along Iron Mountain Road.

In the past few weeks, three other reports have been filed, all describing a man wearing all black and a mask. In one incident he allegedly tried to coax two girls into the woods.

Rondie Pasley, who lives on Iron Mountain Road, thinks there might be a fifth incident that happened to her two girls before the latest incidents.

"Originally I had just thought maybe a hunter or something but now that this is coming out I'm like, no, there's something wrong," she said. "There's actually somebody that's looking for kids."

Kay Bridges said she won't let her grandson Kayson Strickland go outside without her.

"At night, his most concern is, please close the windows, I don't want him looking in at me," she said.

Kayson said he has plans for the suspect.

"When I grow up and I see him still taking kids, I could get him," he said. "I could be the police and take him to jail, I could."

And that was the message Bartow County authorities were emphasizing after hearing talk of some residents taking matters into their own hands.

Sheriff Millsap said it will be difficult separating legitimate sightings but at this point they are taking every one of them seriously.
