Missionary mom laid to rest

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- A beloved missionary and mother was laid to rest in Cartersville on Wednesday.

Kyra Karr was killed in a car accident after an 18-wheeler slammed into her family's pick-up truck on a Bartow County highway.

Police say the driver of the big rig had just left with a delivery and was doing pre-drive inspections, but forgot to set the brakes, causing the 18-wheeler to roll and slam into the Karr's vehicle.

Karr's husband and two children were also hurt. A third child was not involved in the accident.

Family and friends gathered at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville to pay their respects on Tuesday. Mourners filled the church to say their final farewells.

One speaker said Kyra's legacy will be that of a caring mother of three, a humble leader and an advocate for sex-trafficked women.
